Dancing with WCDC has been amazing to say the least. Each dancer is very well trained and dedicated in every aspect. The company is unique because of the ability to fit to indiduals needs. Many company members have families and jobs, and rehearsals are designed to help accommodate them. The amount of time and effort put in to create something truly authentic each rehearsal is inspirational. I feel like all the principles I learned at BYU-Idaho I have been able to use and add upon while working with WCDC.
WCDC BIO:
Wasatch Contemporary Dance Company (WCDC) was founded in April 2010 by Artistic Director Jessica Heaton. Jessica saw the need for a contemporary company in Utah County as an artistic outlet for the numerous talented dancers graduating from colleges in the area. Jessica had a vision of Provo/Orem developing as an artistic hub in Utah County and wanted a dance company to be a part of that progression. The company has performed in a variety of community events, including Orem Concerts in the Park and several benefit concerts for high schools and other community causes. WCDC produces two of their own full-length concerts each year, collaborates with other artists in the area, hosts public contemporary technique classes, and teaches master classes and workshops for middle and high school dance students.
